Dana was an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine and a beloved doctor at the Byron Family Medical Centre, who was tragically killed in a car accident on Tuesday, April 10th, 2012.

  • Medical residents help to reduce emergency department wait times

    Two Department of Family Medicine graduates have completed the first study demonstrating that medical residents are associated with a reduction in emergency department wait times and patients leaving without being seen in a medium-volume community hospital. The study was completed as part of the resident project, a mandatory component of the family medicine residency program.

    Dr. Irram Sumar, a graduate of our family medicine residency program, is taking over for Dr. Hay, a retiring physician in Clinton. Dr. Sumar first came to Clinton in 2011 as a resident and completed part of her training with the Clinton Family Health Team. After graduating in 2013, she decided that Clinton was the place to start her career. Dr. Sumar credits the warmth of the community, support from the other physicians and Dr. Hay’s mentorship as deciding factors in her decision to stay and practice in Clinton.

    Dr. Justin Mall, a doctor with the Central Lambton Family Health Team, has been chosen to be part of the medical team for the Pan Am Games in Toronto this summer. The Petrolia doctor will provide treatment for athletes and tourists at the games. Mall is a recent graduate and adjunct faculty who has trained at the Fowler Kennedy clinic, well known for its sports injury rehabilitation programs.
