• Team of researchers receive award of excellence in research

  Family Medicine researchers, Drs. Tom Freeman, Stephen Wetmore and Eric Wong, and Ms. Leslie Boisvert, received an award of excellence in research for their paper, "The Normative Definition of Comprehensive Practice Across Three Generations of Alumni of One Family Practice Program," from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Section of Researchers.

• In the news: Dr. Susan McNair and St. Joseph's Hospital lead cutting-edge partnership with London police

  November 09, 2017
  The Regional Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital is the first clinic to partner with police for victims of human trafficking. It's the first point of care for women, children and men who have experienced sexual assault, sexual abuse or domestic violence. Dr. Susan McNair is the medical director. Via London Free Press.

• Award: Moira Stewart recognized by North American Primary Care Research Group

  Congratulations to Moira Stewart, PhD, recipient of the 2017 Maurice Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research from the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG). Stewart, renowned for her work in primary care, is a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.

• Alum and faculty Dr. Michael Lee-Poy recognized with Family Physician of the Year Award

  Dr. Michael Lee-Poy is a graduate of the PGY3 program in Academic Family Medicine and an adjunct faculty with the Department of Family Medicine. He will be presented with a Family Physician of the Year award from the College of Family Physicians of Canada at Family Medicine Forum in Montreal next week.

• Dr. Daniel Leger receives 2017 Team Williams Family Medicine Innovation Grant

  Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Leger on being selected to receive the 2017 Team Williams Family Medicine Innovation Grant for his work in founding The Family Medicine Study Guide. The Team Williams Family Medicine Innovation Grant supports family physicians and family medicine residents in the creation and development of innovative medical IT projects in family medicine. The award will be presented to Dr. Leger during Family Medicine Forum 2017, in Montreal, Quebec.

  Dr. Daniel Leger, assistant professor of Family Medicine, developed the app for family medicine residents, medical students, family physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals to learn about family medicine topics in a portable, rapid, and user friendly platform.

• Dr. Daniel Pepe receives 2017 CFPC Patient Education Grant for Family Medicine Residents

  Dr. Daniel Pepe will receive a 2017 CFPC Patient Education Grant for Family Medicine Residents for his project called "Teach and Learn." He has been working on this project to provide a free open access medical education resource for patient education. Congratulations Dr. Pepe!
