Our clinical programs:

Inpatient care

The Division of Paediatric Hospital Medicine is responsible for the operation of three Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) teams and the Complex Care service at the Children's Hospital. Combined, these services provide inpatient clinical care to over 3,000 patients annually, as well as both local and regional inpatient consultative service. The CTU is an academic inpatient care unit where paediatric specialists, nurse practitioners, paediatric residents, medical students, nurses and other healthcare providers work together as a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive paediatric care in an academic teaching environment.

Outpatient care

Outpatient clinical services provided by the Division of Paediatric Medicine include paediatric rapid access and post-discharge follow up clinics. Additionally, we work alongside our subspecialty colleagues in a variety of specialty clinics including headache, asthma, growth faltering, inborn errors of metabolism, and neurofibromatosis.

Within the clinical activities of the Division of Paediatric Hospital Medicine is the Paediatric Complex Care program at Children’s Hospital, which is part of the Complex Care program at Children’s Hospital, which is part of the Complex Care for Kids Ontario (CCKO) initiative, led by the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health. Dedicated members of our faculty participate in the multi-disciplinary clinical care of the most complex medical patients in the region. The program serves as one of four regional CCKO hubs in the province.
