The Department of Paediatrics is actively involved in the teaching of medical students throughout all four years of their undergraduate degree.

Year 1:

The department runs seven Child Health Small Group sessions annually. These sessions are spread throughout the academic year and are specific to the system-based first year curriculum.

Year 2:

The department runs another seven Child Health Small Group sessions annually specific to the system-based second year curriculum. The department also teaches a three week course entitled Paediatric Clinical Methods, which provides students with their first exposure to paediatric patients. Using a patient-centered approach, instruction is given in interviewing and physical examination.

Year 3:

The department runs a full six-week paediatric block for all students during their clinical clerkship year. Aside from the Windsor campus, the majority of students remain in London for the paediatric rotation. Rural regional placements are offered in Chatham, Owen Sound, Sarnia, Stratford and St. Thomas.

Year 4:

The department offers clinical electives to fourth year students in the Paediatric Emergency Department and all sub-specialty fields. During the second portion of the academic year the department runs the Integration and Transition Paediatric Course.
