Stephen Barr, PhD, and his team are studying the origins of a gene that first emerged in marine life hundreds of millions of years ago. This gene gives rise to an anti-viral protein that has the potential to block HIV and is providing insight into both how the viruses and the immune system has evolved.

Again this year, 170 first year medical students from Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry will be in close to 30 communities across the region to receive hands-on learning experiences.

As many of you may have heard, Dr. Tarek Loubani, a faculty member at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry was injured by a gunshot yesterday while providing medical care in the Gaza Strip. Dr. Loubani has been in contact with us today and is safe and doing well.

On May 2, Dr. Davy Cheng, Vice Dean, Faculty Affairs, and Chair, Conditions of Appointment for Physicians Steering Committee, announced that final approval of the 2017 Conditions of Appointment for Physicians (CAP) document was obtained from Western University’s Board of Governors on April 26, 2018.
