Stroke and dementia are on the decline in Ontario

Researchers at Western University have published the first study in the world showing a decline in the incidence of dementia at a whole population level which they believe is connected to the overall decline in strokes.

Bringing new life into research on the placenta

Charles McKenzie, PhD, and Timothy Regnault, PhD, have received $3.7 million in funding from the NIH as part of its Human Placenta Project. The researchers will develop a new technology based on MRI that will allow them, for the first time, to monitor changes in placental metabolism as pregnancy unfolds.
