    • Chair's Message
      Welcome to summer. I can barely believe we are already a week into July. After a very busy June that saw our Department host several culminating events for the academic year, the Department of Family Medicine and its staff and faculty are right back to the hard work of training and teaching our new residents.

    • Undergraduate Report
      The graduating class celebrated convocation on June 7, 2024, marked by addresses to the class from Dean Yoo, Vice Provost Christy Bressette and class valedictorian, Dr. Braden Kralt. We wish the graduates well on the next stage of their learning journey. Orientation and White Coat Ceremony will take place for our newest students on August 27, 2024. We look forward to welcoming the incoming class this September.

    • Postgraduate Report
      Following the completion of the second iteration CaRMS match, we are pleased to report that our program has filled all our residency positions. Thank you to all the faculty and administrative staff for all their hard work and diligence in supervising, supporting and teaching our residents. Wishing you all a wonderful summer.

    • Graduate Report
      Planning is underway for the Graduate Program’s on-site session that will be held in-person September 16 - 20. One MClSc student has accepted their offer and will be commencing in the 2024 fall term. Dr. Makoto Kaneko (PhD) and Dr. Chioma Onuoha (MClSc) will be presented with the Dr. J. F. Sangster Graduate Studies Family Medicine Award at the Graduate Studies Awards Ceremony on September 19, 2024. Best wishes for a healthy and safe summer. See you in September.

    • Research Report
      Recruitment for the LIBERATE (Libre Enabled Reduction of A1c Through Effective Eating and Exercise) Diabetes Study has now ended (at 92 participants). Thank you to everyone who made recruitment a success. CSFM Patient Partner Program and Brown Bag Lunch Seminar Series:  The last seminar of the 2023-2024 year was delivered June 19.  We will be starting the series again after a summer break with the first webinar scheduled for September 11, noon to 1pm. 

    • Department Spotlight: Jane Stokes-Rees
      The Department of Family Medicine would like to introduce Jane Stokes-Rees in the role of Undergraduate Program Coordinator.

    • Celebrating our Achievements
      The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine is proud to announce that six of our current and former Centre for Studies in Family Medicine faculty have been recognized as the “50 most cited primary care researchers in Canada” in the Canadian Family Physician – The official journal of the College of Family Physicians of Canada on May 1st, 2024 (Vol. 70 Issue 5). 

    • TUTOR-PHC 2024 Annual Symposium
      TUTOR-PHC held its annual in-person Symposium from May 6 - 9 at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre in London, ON. The Symposium is the start of the year-long TUTOR program. Department members Amanda Terry, Judith Belle Brown, Graham Reid and Maria Mathews led components of the Symposium for the trainees in attendance.
