Undergraduate Report

What are the medical students up to?

Meds2024:  The graduating class celebrated convocation on June 7, 2024, marked by addresses to the class from Dean Yoo, Vice Provost Christy Bressette and class valedictorian, Dr. Braden Kralt. We wish the graduates well on the next stage of their learning journey.

Meds2025:  The third-year class is class completing their last weeks of Clerkship, which ends with the Summative OSCE on July 31. The Meds2025 class then has three weeks of vacation in August.
NB: if you are a preceptor with a Meds2025 clerk in your clinic on July 31, please ensure that they are dismissed at 3pm that day.

Meds2026: Our second-year class completed Transition to Clerkship, Experiential Learning and Clinical Skills 2 and are currently enjoying time off prior to orientation to Clerkship mid-August.

Meds2027:  This cohort finished their first year off with Discovery Week.  (Find out more about Discovery Week here.)

Meds2028: Orientation and White Coat Ceremony will take place for our newest students on August 27, 2024. We look forward to welcoming the incoming class this September.

Faculty Teaching Opportunities:

We are still looking for faculty to sign up for teaching opportunities in the undergraduate MD Program. There are multiple ways to become involved in teaching for the 2024-25 academic year, including:

  • Small group facilitator
  • Academic coach
  • Examiners for the clerkship OSCEs (two dates: March 6, 2024 and/or August 8, 2025)
  • Clinical Skills instruction (including OBGYN communication skills & MSK physical exam teaching)
  • Reflection grader (provide narrative feedback in the Professionalism Careers and Wellness course)
  • Mock interviewer (provide career support and prepare students for CaRMS in the Professionalism Careers and Wellness course)

Many of these roles can be filled remotely; others require in-person teaching. There is some flexibility in scheduling, variable across these teaching sessions.

For descriptions of UME roles, visit Role Descriptions - Undergraduate Medical Education. Please reach out to the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Family Medicine or to Dr. Jess Howard if you have questions or if you’re interested in participating.
