TRAINING SITE/PRACTICE DESCRIPTION

Middlesex Centre Family Medicine Clinic, located in the Middlesex Centre Regional Medical Clinic (MCRMC) is situated in Ilderton, Ontario, approx. 10km north of the City of London.  Ilderton is a rapidly growing rural community of over 2000 people.  The family practice medical clinic opened in June 2010 and is staffed by six physicians, all of which are affiliated with the Department of Family Medicine at Western University.  Each of the four clinic teams consist of a staff physician, registered practical nurse, 2 residents and one student.  As well as being a teaching site, the medical clinic is also affiliated with the Thames Valley Family Health Team with on site access to a social worker, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, dietitian, and occupational therapist.

PATIENT PROFILE

The clinic serves the village of Ilderton and surrounding areas  as well as patients from North London.  The population of the area provides a representative mixture typical of rural areas in Ontario.  As the medical clinic was built with a great deal of input from the townspeople, they are very proud of their facility and the people that work in it.
