Awards: SRTP Award winners announced
The Summer Research Training Program (SRTP) Committee is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s SRTP awards.
The goal of SRTP is to encourage medical students to pursue their interests in medical research. SRTP enables first and second year medical students in Schulich Medicine & Dentistry to work under the supervision of a faculty member on a research project during the summer months, for two years.
Congratulations to this year’s award winners:
The Dr. Cindy M Hutnik Award was given to Claire Browne (Supervisor: Dr. Len Luyt) for her project titled: "Cyclic Peptides Targeting RHAMM as Cancer Therapeutics.” This award is given to a student who shows demonstrated excellence in SRTP and promise in research.
Chloe Gui (Supervisor: Dr. Joseph Megyesi) was awarded the Dr. L. DeWitt Wilcox Award for her project titled "Optimizing Image Guidance Techniques for the Resection of Brain Tumors.” This award is given to a student who has demonstrated initiative, drive, awareness of research and the ability to persevere in completing an SRTP project. The award is intended to recognize the student's outstanding performance in research by permitting the student to present at the National Student Research Forum in Galveston, Texas.
The Dr. Glen S. Wither Award for Research, given for outstanding participation in SRTP, was awarded to Logan Van Nynatten (Supervisor: Dr. Jimmy Dikeakos) for his project titled "Elucidating Immunoregulatory Pathways Associated with HIV-1 Disease Progression.”
