Undergraduate Report
The new academic year is in full swing, and the FM UG committee is excited to be reconnecting with our class reps.
This year, our London team placed 155 students into primary care practices for the Year 1 Longitudinal Clinical Experience program; Windsor placements are also being finalized. In LCE, students spend 32 hours of their first year observing patient care delivery in one generalist clinic. Thank you to the faculty who support these early clinical learners through LCE. We especially need urban clinicians to participate - if you are located in London or Windsor please contact your local FM department for more information.
The UG team has been busy developing content for our clerkship assessments, to ensure that our exams are rigorous and continue to reflect current practice. Clerkship OSCEs will be delivered next year on Thursday, February 27, and Thursday, August 7. If you are supervising a clinical clerk on either date, please make sure you release them by 3:00 p.m. Please reach out if you’re interested in participating as an examiner.
Our clinical placement schedules for Year 3 and Year 4 learners are filling up for the academic year, with many Year 3 students excitedly planning their rural FM Plus rotations. Please contact your local FM Department if you are interested in supervising clerks or Year 4 students – both London and Windsor have had changes in staffing this year, and so would appreciate hearing from our adjunct faculty. There will be two more Year 4 elective rotations in spring; we will be scheduling students from March 31-April 11, and April 14-25 as part of their post-CaRMS Transition to MD course.
For further information please contact your local FM UG coordinator.
