One of the worst kept secrets in healthcare today was the report of the Expert Advisory Committee on Strengthening Primary Health Care in Ontario, also known as the Price Report. The report has now been released and confirmed what many people suspected. There is no doubt that change is coming to primary care delivery in Ontario.

Inaugural Dr. Ian McWhinney Lecture Series a resounding success
The Department of Family Medicine celebrated Dr. Ian McWhinney – the founding father of family medicine in Canada – with the inaugural lecture series in September. Dr. Michael Kidd, President of WONCA, delivered an inspirational and thought provoking lecture and Dr. Stephen Wetmore announced the naming of the Dr. Ian McWhinney Lecture Hall.

The Department of Family Medicine at Western University is at the forefront of research in primary health care. Among the areas of focus for research are patient-centered care, clinical practice guidelines, health promotion, population health, care of the elderly, health services and information technology.

Grand Rounds: Poverty and its Effects on Health will be presented by Dr. Blair Pierce and the London Poverty Network on November 4, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in the Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine. Family Medicine Forum (FMF) will celebrate its 15th anniversary November 11-14, 2015, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
