How do I apply?

Canadian medical-school graduates must make application through the CaRMS process.

Usually, there are six CaRMS positions available each year. In general, the selection committee prefers candidates to have a broad clinical background and at least some Ob/Gyn electives. Meaningful reference letters also constitute an important part of the application.

The selection process involves all departmental post-graduate education committee members. Applicants are invited in December for an interview in January. Failure to attend these interview sessions precludes consideration for a CaRMS ranking. Selection is based on the interview assessments, CaRMS application materials, including the applicant's curriculum vitae and academic record, and letters of recommendation.

Successful applicants are expected to respond in writing within one week to the contract offer. Failure to do so may result in the position being offered to an alternate candidate and contravenes the CaRMS contract.

Do you have sub-specialty training programs?

the Department offers three sub-specialty fellowship training programs:

Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
UroGynaecology

Applicants must expect to have successfully completed all requirements of their postgraduate residency training program in Ob/Gyn prior to the start of these sub-specialty programs in order to be eligible to apply. Normal start date is July 1.
