Overview
The department assumes an active role in the undergraduate medical program. We are responsible for a large block in second year where we present the fundamentals of our specialty. In third year all clerks spend 4 weeks on the service. Most are scheduled at Victoria Hospital but there is also a cohort who do their clerkship at Windsor Regional Hospital.
Each clerkship block sees a few students scheduled at regional hospitals as well, St. Thomas-Elgin General, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Woodstock General Hospital and Owen Sound General Hospital. Finally, in fourth year, we offer electives in the specialty both to Schulich Medicine students and also to senior medical students from other Canadian universities.
