ICU- Sarnia

Overall goals:
- To develop comfort and confidence when managing patients who are acutely and seriously ill
- To develop an understanding of the interface between ICU and common care settings where patients are often transferred to ICU (e.g. ER, hospital ward) so to inform better practices in the ER and hospital ward.
- To develop competencies in central lines, inotropes, ventiliation, stabilization and resuscitation to inform better practices in the ER setting.
The ICU at Bluewater Health, Sarnia is a closed-unit ICU staffed by intensivists. One intensivist covers the ICU one week at a time from Monday to Sunday. The residents will receive an excellent exposure to a wide variety of acutely ill patients and their management issues. The director of the ICU is Dr. Michel Haddad. Exact schedule will be determined prior to the beginning of the rotation and will consists of shifts and on-calls. Contact person for this rotation is Ms. Alison Mahon, Director of Medical Affairs.
Scheduling: Can take 1 resident/block, one at a time.
