Decolonizing the physician to support Indigenous wellness

Join us on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, as Adrean Angles, MPH, BHSc, Indigenous Liaison on the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry Learner Equity & Wellness team, presents "Decolonizing the physician to support Indigenous wellness" as part of the department of Family Medicine's faculty development series.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

These are the three learning objectives we hope to achieve:

  1. Decolonizing the physician - identify and recognize challenges in utilizing Canadian health services for Indigenous people.
  2. Unpacking the suitcase - stimulate the physician to reflect on the ideas of White power and privilege, racism, and oppression in the context of Indigenous wellbeing
  3. Providing tools - To avoid Indigenous health as a cognitive exercise and develop educational and workplace strategies to address challenges and issues Indigenous people face in the health system.
