Cardiovascular, Respiratory Health and Metabolic Diseases
The Cardiovascular, Respiratory Health, and Metabolic Diseases research theme brings together a diverse group of colleagues working on a range of translational projects involving heart, lung and metabolic disease. Research within this cluster includes studies across the full spectrum of translational research continuum. Basic and pre-clinical research projects examine inflammatory and fibrotic pathways driving disease development with a view to identifying potential therapeutic targets using animal models, cellular, molecular and genomic approaches. Clinical studies include investigation into genotype-phenotype interactions influencing disease development and severity, improving diagnosis and treatment as well as projects that emphasize understanding social determinants and how to improve health care access for underserved groups.
