Oral Biology and Medicine
The field of Oral Biology and Medicine focuses on cellular and subcellular mechanisms in healing and malignant transformation in oral and maxillofacial tissues. Researchers in this cluster are investigating gingival healing and fibrosis, based on an interdisciplinary approach involving maintenance of functional tissues, cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in connective tissue repair. In addition, the role of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in oral epithelial dysplasia and cancer transformation, and in selected jaw lesions, are also examined.
