Paediatric Advanced Life Support Course (PALS)

Courses offered and intended audience
1- Paediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Course: this 2-day course is designed for all healthcare providers who participate in the management of paediatric respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest. It focuses on a systematic approach to paediatric assessment, basic life support, advanced life support, and team dynamics using low, medium, and high-fidelity simulation.

2- Paediatric Advanced Life Support Recertification Course: as above, but this one-day course is only available to those who are PALS certified within 2 years of the recertification course.
All courses are certified by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. 

BLS certification is REQUIRED

Course Costs for External Registrants
PALS Provider Course cost $430

PALS Recertification Cost $230

These costs do not include course materials. PALS Provider course materials include $65 textbook and $15 pocket card + shipping costs (cost subject to change). Both of these are highly recommended, both for successful completion of the course and for ongoing reference material in your daily practice.

Instructors
Our courses are taught by a group of dynamic and experienced PALS instructors who are also respiratory therapists, physicians, and nurses at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences.

Course details
Location: Michael Gunning Simulation Centre, B3-158, Victoria Hospital, 800 Commissioners Rd. E., London, Ontario, N6A5W9

Time: plan to be at the course from 8-5 for all course days.

Food:  Lunch and beverage (bring your own)

Come prepared:

1) Read the textbook- there is a lot of material to cover and your chances of successfully passing PALS are significantly improved if you’ve adequately prepared

2) Complete PALS Pre-Course Self-Assessment test with a successful score of 70% or greater. (If not completed, participants won't be able to attend the course). To download the Pre-Test, please log on to the Heart & Stroke Website ( https://resuscitation.heartandstroke.ca) using your HSF ID.
