The Fertility Clinic Achieves Exemplary Accreditation Standing

The Fertility Clinic at London Health Sciences Centre was recently awarded Accreditation with Exemplary Standing after a fertility specific four-day onsite survey in November 2018.

A team of four surveyors visited The Fertility Clinic over a period of three days and reviewed materials, spoke to staff, physicians, partners and patients. Polices and records were reviewed and procedures directly observed.

The results of the onsite survey indicated that The Fertility Clinic has embraced the value of client and family-centred care, and a clear commitment to model leadership in this area was demonstrated.

“The Fertility Clinic’s award of Accreditation with Exemplary Standing is further proof of LHSC’s commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality and safety,” says Dr. Paul Woods, President and CEO of LHSC. “Patients can be assured that when they visit LHSC they are receiving the best care available.”

The Fertility Clinic was reviewed on a set of four standards:

  • Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Standards for Working with Third Party Donors,
  • ART Standards for Laboratory Services,
  • ART Standards for Clinical Services, and,
  • Leadership Standards for Small, Community-Based Organizations.

 

Within the Required Organizational Practice Goal Areas, The Fertility Clinic had 100 per cent compliance. These areas included; Safety Culture, Communication, Worklife/Workforce, and Infection Control.

Accreditation Canada found The Fertility Clinic to be financially stable and good managers, and highlighted in their report that the entire team is committed to their work and the success of the clinic. Other areas of note included the abundance of training and development opportunities, and that leadership is highly visible and accessible on the unit.

The Fertility Clinic was commended for their ongoing work to integrated accreditation into its daily operations to improve the quality and safety of its programs and services. The Fertility Clinic was recognized for going beyond the requirements of Qmentum accreditation program and demonstrates excellence in quality improvement. The Fertility Clinic will retain Accreditation with Exemplary Standing until November 2022
