Licensing Definitions

All physicians practicing medicine in the province of Ontatrio must hold a valid certificate of registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). It is a serious offence under the Medicine Act, 1991 to have patient contact without a valid license. Residents and Clinical Fellows can be eligible to hold the following license types:

• Pre-Entry Assessment Program (PEAP)
• Educational
• Independent
• Restricted

• College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC)
• The Medical Council of Canada (MCC)
• The Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FMRAC)
• Registration Through Practice Assessment (RPA)
