Biography
Dr. Ali is Canada Research Chair in Public Health Economics, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and cross-appointed with the Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine, Western University. He is Visiting Associate Professor of Health Economics at University of York (UK). He is also Research Affiliate at Heidelberg University (Germany) and Macquarie University (Australia), and holds Affiliate Scientist positions at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) and Bruyere Research Institute (University of Ottawa).

Dr. Ali’s leadership positions have included Health Economics Lead at the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH), Lead Economist in the Mental Health Research Group at University of York, and Senior Consultant with Oxford Policy Management. He was also Dean of Derwent College at University of York, and has provided leadership on projects funded by the Department for International Development (DfID, UK), German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank, and the United Nations.
