  MEDICI publishes with the COVIDSurg Collaborative a prospective cohort study of 20,006 patients from 466 hospitals in 51 countries with 15 cancer types, studying the impact of lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic on delivery of cancer surgeries, to identify areas requiring immediate strengthening within cancer surgery systems worldwide.

  The Utstein Consensus Report published the results of experts in surgical, obstetric and anaesthesia convening with experts in global indicators, data and policy to appraise and refine the original six indicators proposed in the 2015 Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, as well as define the data points necessary in order to derive these indicators.

• New Publication: Timing of surgery following SARS-CoV-2 infection: an international prospective cohort study

  Building on prior global work with GlobalSurg, the MEDICI Centre served as a global and national lead to help design, implement and disseminate a number of studies throughout the COVID pandemic. The largest study, entitled GlobalSurg-CovidSurg-Week,  enrolled over 140,000 patients from 1674 hospitals in 116 countries, making this the largest ever prospective international surgical study. The first paper from this study, on the timing of surgery after SARS-CoV-2 infection, has now been published.
