Transition of Leadership
The Department of Family Medicine and the Postgraduate Program would like to welcome Dr. Julie Copeland to her new role as Postgraduate Director.
Dr. Copeland is a clinical team lead at the Southwest Middlesex Health Centre and has been involved with the Department since 2005 in the capacity of Adjunct Professor, Assistant Professor, Site Director, Rural/Regional Program Director, and Associate Professor.
Dr. Copeland completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of New Brunswick and a Medical Degree at the University of Toronto before coming to Western University to complete her Family Medicine residency. She recently completed a Masters of Clinical Science in Family Medicine at Western University.
Dr. Copeland’s term as Family Medicine Rural/Regional Program Director started in 2012. She has a deep understanding of our rural/regional programs and skillfully advocates for the learners, administrators, and preceptors in family medicine. As evident in her role as Rural/Regional Program Director, she is able to effectively strategize and innovate to make strong improvements to the program. Dr. Copeland is heavily engaged in medical education and is a strong mentor for scholarly pursuits.
