Q & A with community preceptor Dr. Dax Biondi from the Thamesview Family Health Team
Q. Where were you born and raised?
A. Born in Chatham, lived in Lucan until Grade 8 and then Chatham Grade 9 and onwards.
Q. What degree(s) do you have, and from what university (ies)?
A. BSc from U of Guelph, MSc in Public Health from U Alberta and Medicine from Western.
Q. What special interests or hobbies do you have?
A. My hobby is chasing the kids around.
Q. Where do you practice medicine and in what scope?
A. I practice in Chatham and my practice encompasses family medicine, emergency medicine and nursing home.
Q. Why did you choose to pursue teaching in the Department of Family Medicine at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry?
A. I enjoy teaching and learning from trainees.
Q. What inspires you in your work?
A. Seeing patients recover from lifestyle related illnesses including obesity and diabetes; working with a great team in the emerg and helping resuscitate sick patients.
Q. What are your research interests?
A. Low carb, high fat ketogenic dietary patterns for patients with obesity and diabetes.
Q. What has been your greatest experience to date in your career as a faculty member?
A. I've had a student working with me for over a year and it has been great to watch his clinical method improve.
Q. What do you do when you aren’t working?
A. Mostly chase the kids around!
