Dr. Judith Belle Brown received the 2016 Family Medicine Researcher of the Year Award at the Family Medicine Forum (FMF) in Vancouver.
This award recognizes a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) who is a family medicine researcher who has made original contributions to building research and knowledge for family medicine in Canada. The contribution may encompass any aspect of family medicine research, from clinical, to health services, to education.
This award has been designed to honour a family medicine researcher who has been a pivotal force in the definition, development, and dissemination of concepts central to the discipline of family medicine.
Dr. Stewart Harris received the CFPC 2016 Outstanding Family Medicine Research Article Award For “Impact of a quality improvement program on primary healthcare in Canada: A Mixed-method Evaluation”, published in Health Policy 119(2015) 405 – 416, judged to be the best research paper published in a national or international journal during the preceding year (2015).
Dr. Brenna Velker received the Family Medicine Resident Leadership Award from the Department of Family Medicine at the resident graduation in June, and was then chosen as the recipient of the Murry Stalker Award at FMF.
Supported by the Research and Education Foundation of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, this award, named in honour of the late Dr. Murray Stalker, first CFPC President (1954 to 1955), recognizes and promotes scholarly activities of family medicine residents. It is awarded to an outstanding family medicine resident recognized as a potential future leader in our discipline.
