CSFM Announces New Adjunct Faculty
CSFM is thrilled to announce two new research focused adjunct faculty members to our department, Jennifer Rayner, PhD, and Dr. Archna Gupta-Narula.
Jennifer Rayner, PhD is a doctorally trained epidemiologist, and is the Association of Ontario Health Centre’s Research Lead. In this role, she is developing a new research program designed to build knowledge about how Ontario's primary health care system can do a better job serving vulnerable populations. In this regard, Jennifer is establishing partnerships with research partners in order to explore the health, and health care services, for the at risk populations served by AOHC members. She also chairs the Research Working Group of the National Association of Community Health Centres. Jennifer is collaborating with Merrick Zwarenstein and the INGOT-CHC research team on a proposed reverse innovation for complex social and clinical needs, adapting PACK (Practical Approach to Care Kit) guidelines to build the first such guidelines and implementation tools in Canada, implement at scale, and evaluate their effects on efficiency of, and access to, interprofessional primary care.
Dr. Archna Gupta-Narula is a practicing family physician who provides full scope primary care including low risk obstetrical care and services for the homeless or marginally housed who have complex health and social needs. She is a researcher with the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine at Western, and an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster. Her research interests include how to optimize healthcare services for marginalized populations, how to increase research capacity in primary care, and implement change at a healthcare systems level. Archna, Merrick Zwarenstein and Cathy Thorpe, have developed and are testing the Nose to Tail Tool (NTT) to support decisions around the development, implementation, and scale up of health innovations.
