SPEA Events

Winter 2024/2025

This year, the Student Professionalism and Ethics Association (SPEA) organized two heartwarming events to support their peers. Our first event was "Surviving First Year of Dentistry" which offered valuable advice, guidance, and support for first-year students navigating the challenges of dental school. SPEA members shared tips on managing workloads, maintaining mental health, and building strong support networks.

Care packages were filled with delicious snacks, study supplies, and motivational notes. These were distributed to help our friends and colleagues feel supported and appreciated during this busy time.

These continuous efforts highlight SPEA's ongoing commitment to fostering a positive and caring community within the dental school.

Furthermore, members of SPEA had the opportunity to gather with members of American College of Dentists (ACD) in New Orleans for the annual meeting.

This event brought together dental professionals, educators and dental students for a series of impactful discussions on ethics, professionalism and the future of dentistry. Keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities allowed attendees to exchange ideas to improve patient care while addressing challenges within the field of dentistry. attendees watching a presentation on the screen at ACD Annual Meeting

This meeting was invaluable for dental students as it strengthened the ties between the students and dental professionals while fostering a shared commitment to excellence and integrity in dentistry.
