From the Desk of Dr. Garcia
After a two-year hiatus, I’m excited to be attending the Ontario Dental Cup where the Mighty Dents face-off against U of T’s dental hockey club.
The teams will play on March 26 at the Lucan Community Memorial Centre.
This year the co-ed team is led by captain Luke Nogalo who can’t wait to get his skates on the ice. Luke told me how honoured and excited the team is to be bringing back the event.
This event has raised much-appreciated funds annually for our DOCS program and I know there was widespread disappointment when COVID caused the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 games. Now we can cheer our team to victory as they break the six all tie that is the result of 12 years of friendly but passionate rivalry between our two schools.
In addition to being a lot of fun and a chance to get into the Western spirit, the event has always been an important fundraising opportunity. This year, the Mighty Dents will be donating event proceeds to the Wright Clinic, founded by team coach, Dr. Ken Wright.
