Welcome new faculty and staff
Schulich Dentistry welcomes new faculty member Dr. Peter McDermott, as well as Courtney D’Ariano, Patient Services Coordinator.
Dr. Peter McDermott joins Schulich Dentistry as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry. He is lending his experience and skills in prosthodontics, implant restoration, endodontics, periodontology and oral surgery to clinical teaching of Dentistry learners. Dr. McDermott will also contribute clinical curriculum design, leading of small group case based learning seminars, monitoring of student clinical progression and participation in faculty calibration and development.
He graduated in 1992 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto, followed by a Master of Science in Prosthodontics in 2005. Since then, Dr. McDermott has operated his prosthodontics practice in Grimbsy, Ontario. He has previously taught at the University of Toronto, as an Assistant Professor in Prosthodontics. Dr. McDermott is also a Western University alumnus, completing a Master of Arts in Political Science before pursuing his aspirations as a dentist.
Courtney started her position as the Patient Services Coordinator for Schulich Dentistry. She provides leadership to the patient services portfolio and supports the daily patient services needs of our various clinics.
Courtney previously held the role of Administrative Coordinator with Housing & Ancillary Services at Western. Prior to joining Western, Courtney held administrative positions with St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Lasik MD Vision, and London Health Sciences Centre. Courtney has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Criminology, and holds a Professional Certificate in Business Management.
