COVID-19 vaccinations underway for students in clinical settings
As COVID-19 vaccination capacity begins to expand across the city and within the province, upper-year dentistry students were included as part of an early vaccination program for health care workers offered by the Middlesex London Health Unit and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
Because third- and fourth-year Dentistry students require experience in clinical settings as part of their education, and are subsequently exposed in contact with members of the community, it was crucial that these learners were included in the early vaccination program.
“The process is now underway to extend this opportunity for vaccination to first- and second- year students, who will be engaging in clinical activities in the near future,” said Dr. Bertha Garcia, Acting Vice Dean & Director, Dentistry.
