Dr. Richard Bohay appointed Interim Director, Schulich Dentistry
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Bohay has been appointed to the position Interim Director, Schulich Dentistry, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University from January 26, 2015 to December 31, 2016.In this role, Dr. Bohay will be responsible for the overall management of Schulich Dentistry as it moves through its planned renewal. Dr. Bohay will continue to be supported by the Dental Renewal Committee, and the Director’s Advisory Committee. The overall governance and reporting mechanisms within Schulich Dentistry will continue.
Dr. Bohay is an Associate Professor in Oral Medicine & Radiology in Dentistry, and in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He also serves as the Assistant Director, Academic, Schulich Dentistry.
Dr. Bohay holds an appointment at London Health Sciences Centre and maintains a part-time private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Bohay received his DMD, from the University of Saskatchewan in 1984, and his Diploma in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from the University of Toronto in 1990. He became a Member of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in 1992, and completed his MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University in 1995. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Dentistry at Schulich Dentistry in 1991.
Since Dr. Bohay’s initial appointment, he has advanced his academic and administrative career. He served as Chair of the Division of Oral Medicine & Radiology from 1995-1999. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1996. He served as Acting Vice-Dean and Director for Schulich Dentistry from September 2011 to August 2012.
Dr. Bohay has served, and continues to serve, on numerous provincial, national and international committees. He is currently a Member of the Academic Affairs Committee of the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry and Chair of the Discipline Committee of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). In the past, he has served as a Member of the Planning Committee of the American Dental Education Association, a Member of Council for the RCDSO, and President of both the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry and Canadian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiologists.
He has also served on numerous Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and University Committees, including the Senate. Dr. Bohay also continues to serve as journal and grant reviewer for numerous journals.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bohay has received a number of awards, including most recently being awarded the 2013 Dean’s Awards of Excellence for Faculty – Team Award.
