Congratulations to the Schulich community on your recent achievements:

Third-year medical student Maud Ahmad and co-authors Dr. Allan D. Sniderman and Dr. Rob Hegele have published a paper "Apolipoprotein B in Cardiovascular Risk Assessment," published in CMAJ's  (Canadian Medical Association Journal) 'Five Things to Know' series.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory of Medicine would like to offer congratulations to:

Reza Askakereh, who recently completed their MSc in Pathology. Dr. Parisa Shooshtari and Dr. Qi Zhang were Reza’s MSc supervisors. The thesis title is "Integrative data analysis to uncover genes and pathways underlying the aggressiveness and invasion patterns of lung cancer brain metastasis.”

Samantha Colllings, who recently completed her MSc in Pathology. Dr. Weiping Min and Dr. Xiufen Zheng were Mackenzie’s MSc supervisors, and her thesis title is "The role of DLC1β in attenuating cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury during heart transplantation.”

Mackenzie Hsu, who recently completed her MSc in Pathology. Dr. Zia Khan and Dr. Christopher Howlett were Mackenzie’s MSc supervisors, and her thesis title is "Mechanisms underlying stem cell depletion in ageing.”

Congratulations to CERI educators, Courtney Casserly and Dani Dilkes, for taking the 2nd place prize among over 200 e-posters at 2023 AMEE conference in Glasgow.

Four Western PhD candidates have been named among recipients of the 2023-2024 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships, including two Schulich trainees. Congratulations to Shahnaza Hamidullah, MD/PhD student in neuroscience and Edward Wang, MD/PhD student in medical biophysics. 

Congratulations to Professor Marlys Koschinsky on her election to the Royal Society of Canada in recognition of her original work on lipoprotein biology.

Congratulations to Dr. Emil Schemitsch and colleagues on receiving the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society (CORS) Founders’ Medal.

Welcome Dr. Anurag Sharma who has joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as an Assistant Professor and Pathologist effective August 16, 2023.
