Congratulations to the Schulich community on your recent achievements:

Congratulations to Moheem Halari for being recognized by Inspiring Minds for his work on “Trauma Patterns Among Pedestrians and Cyclists Involved in a Motor Vehicle Collision”. Moheem is a medical graduate with a passion for research in Forensic Medicine. He is currently in his fourth-year Ph.D. in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and studies injury patterns in pedestrian and cyclists fatalities involved in motor vehicle collisions in Ontario under Dr. Michael Shkrum (a forensic pathologist, at Western University and Director of Motor Vehicle Safety (MOVES) Research Team) funded by Transport Canada.

Anatomy & Cell Biology is delighted to welcome Dr. Andrew Deweyert as a new limited-term Assistant Professor in the area of histology and anatomy starting on June 1, 2023. As a proud ACB alumnus, Dr. Deweyert comes to us from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education and the Anatomy Curriculum Co-Lead for Undergraduate Medicine and the Physician’s Assistant program.

The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology congratulates Brent Wakefield for receiving The Suzanne M. Bernier Publication Award in Anatomy & Cell Biology.

Congratulations to Christopher Watling, MD, FRCPC, for receiving the 2023 Duncan Graham Award for Outstanding Contribution to Medical Education. Dr. Watling is a professor in the Departments of Oncology, Clinical Neurological Sciences and Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. This award recognizes an individual who has made a lifelong contribution to medical education.

Congratulations to Dr. Maude Rancourt for winning The American Association for Thoracic Surgery’s (AATS) Resident Case Presentation Competition.

The recipient of the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force Summer Student Scholarship Award 2023 is Julianna Charles from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Windsor, ON.

Julianna and her Supervisor, Dr. Ross Lepera, Adjunct Professor will be working on the research project titled, “Determining the Prevalence of Malnutrition Risk in Older Adults Ages 65 Years and Above in Primary Care Physician’s Practices in Windsor-Essex County: A Multi-Centre Cross-Sectional Study”.

Congratulations to Dr. Ali Bateman and Dr. Frank Myslik for being featured on London’s 20 Under 40 program, presented by Lexus of London, which has celebrated younger Londoners who are moving the city forward since 2013.
