Announcement: New Scholarship opportunity for graduate students
With a goal of enhancing collaborative research, Dr. John Yoo has announced the introduction of the Dean’s Research Scholarship program.
Beginning the 2020/21 academic year, a total of 10 scholarships per year will be awarded to incoming or existing MSc and PhD students enrolled in a thesis-based graduate program at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. Funding for each scholarship will be provided for two years.
“The School and University have a strong commitment to enhance collaborative and translational research, and I am very pleased that this new Scholarship program will serve as one opportunity to achieve our goal in that realm,” said Dr. Yoo. “I’m grateful to Susanne Schmid, the School’s Associate Dean, Research - Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, for conceiving of this Scholarship and coordinating all the teams to bring it to fruition.”
Master’s students will be eligible to receive $10,000 per year, while PhD students will be eligible to receive $14,000 annually. Students who are co-supervised by a clinician and a basic scientist on a collaborative project will be given preferential consideration.
Applications are now being accepted and more information can be found online. The deadline for applications is May 27 at 5:00 p.m. Scholarship recipients will be announced in June.
