Award: Dr. Mark Awuku named Ontario Pediatrician of the Year
Congratulations to Dr. Mark Awuku who has been named the 2017 Ontario Pediatrician of the Year by the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario (PAO).
Based in Windsor, Dr. Awuku has a passion for medical education. He is a pediatrician and assistant professor in the department of pediatrics at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry – Windsor Campus. He is also well known in the Windsor community for his six-year term as Chief of Paediatrics at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital.
This award is one of many previous recognitions that highlight his passion for education including several School awards, the 2005 PAIRO Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award and the Ontario Medical Associate Student Advocate Award in 2008. Dr. Awuku takes pride in seeing his students excel and he continues to look into the development of new teaching methods.
In announcing the Ontario Pediatrician of the Year Award, PAO President Dr. Hirotaka Yamashiro said, “Dr. Awuku is, as are many Ontario pediatricians, a multitalented physician, mentor and community leader. He embodies the grace, patience and scholarly accomplishments that is found in many of our 1400 pediatricians in Ontario.”
