In Memoriam - Dr. Robert Goyer
It is with sadness that we share news of the passing of Dr. Robert Goyer, Professor Emeritus and past Chair in the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Dr. Goyer served two terms as Chair of the Department of Pathology at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. He was an internationally renowned expert in the toxicity of metals and interactions of toxic metals with nutritionally essential metals and published over 170 research papers, reviews and book chapters on the topic.
He served on committees for international health agencies including the National Institutes of Health, the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences and the World Health Organization. In 2001, he was honoured by the National Academy of Sciences for his service as an advisor in matters of science, engineering and health.
In his retirement, Dr. Goyer and his wife lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He passed away at the age of 89 on February 21, 2017.
