In Memoriam - Dr. David Armstrong
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr. David Armstrong, one of the School's most renowned basic scientists in the field of reproductive biology. Dr. Armstrong published over 400 research papers in his long career at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry where he was a professor in the departments of physiology and pharmacology and obstetrics and gynaecology since 1968. It was Dr. Armstrong's work that laid the foundation for the understanding of how the ovary produces estrogens.
Dr. Armstrong founded the Medical Research Council Group and served as its first director from 1979 to 1989. Alongside his distinguished research career, he also mentored a large number of graduate students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows.
He will be greatly missed.
