Interstitial Lung Disease Research
Clinical research is focused on multidimensional staging systems for interstitial lung disease, with a focus on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and on a interstitial pneumonias with autoimmune features. Two prospective, observational clinical trials are being conducted.
Research collaborations have also been established with investigators at Brescia College to study the nutritional status of patients with interstitial lung disease and its impact on patients’ outcomes.
Translational Research is focused on gene expression profiling of surgical lung biopsies from patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIP), with the purpose of improving diagnostic accuracy with novel molecular tools and with immunohistochemistry markers. This project is conducted in collaboration with the London Genomic Centre and the Department of Pathology.
