Dr. Dhandapani Ashok, MBBS, MD, FRCPCH (UK) joined the Department of Paediatrics at the Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences in October 2012.
Dr. Ashok graduated from Madras University and completed postgraduate training in Paediatrics in Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, India. In 1999, he moved to the United Kingdom and trained in various university teaching hospitals during his paediatric residency program. He developed a keen interest in childhood bowel and liver diseases and completed the paediatric gastroenterology fellowship training program in 2008. He gained specialist knowledge & breadth of experience at prestigious hospitals: Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a major centre for intestinal rehabilitation, Liver & Small Bowel transplantation, Sheffield Children’s Hospital, a busy diagnostic & interventional endoscopy centre and Great North Children’s Hospital, a centre for intestinal failure and rare immune gut disorders. He practiced as a consultant paediatric gastroenterologist in Hull & East Yorkshire University Hospital, UK for 2 years.
Area of speciality and research interests:
Dr. Ashok’s specific clinical interests are paediatric liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease. He also maintains a broad interest in all aspects of paediatric gastroenterology & nutrition. Throughout his career, he has shown a keen interest in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees.
Dr. Ashok is an active member of the Canadian Paediatric Hepatology Research Group and NASPGHAN Technology Committee. He is currently pursuing research interests in non-invasive monitoring of childhood liver diseases, environmental factors in inflammatory bowel disease and dietary interve
