Biography
Dr. Laura Sovran BSc MD FRCSC earned her Bachelor of General Science from the University of Windsor. She received her MD and subsequently completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. Over the next year she sought extra training in vulvar health working with internationally renown vulvologists including Dr. Hope Haefner, Dr. Libby Edwards and Dr. Lynne Margesson.
Clinically, Dr. Sovran is a general obstetrician-gynecologist caring for women of all ages and stages of life. She has a surgical focus in minimally invasive surgery, including total laparoscopic hysterectomies.
Currently, she is an assistant professor and Deputy Director of Undergraduate Medical Education at Western University where she works as a clinician-teacher in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is actively involved in training both medical students and residents.
She is actively involved in departmental initiatives including development of an Early Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for Gynecology patients, founder of the TRST (Transparent Resident Support Team) committee, and Clerkship director to name a few.
