Admission to Year 3
How do I apply for the Major in IMS?
Submit an Intent to Register (ITR) during the ITR period in the month of March and request a BMSc (Honours) degree or BMSc degree (non-honours) with Double Majors.
Choose a Major in IMS and another basic medical science Major.
What do I need to be eligible for admission?
You must satisfy the requirements for admission to Year 3 BMSc and have an average of at least 75% on the 2000-level half courses listed in the Admission requirements for the Major in IMS, as well as on the 2000-level Admission Requirements for the other Major you request.
See the Double Major Charts that list the Admission Requirements for the Major in IMS + another basic medical science Major.
How do I find out if I'm admitted?
After final marks are available in May, we adjudicate students' eligibility for the module(s) they requested during the ITR period.
Your adjudication results will be posted in your Grade Report (on Student Center) by mid-June. If your First Choice for ITR is a BMSc (Honours) degree with a Major in IMS + another basic medical science Major and your report comments state "eligible for requested honours program", then you're admitted.
Admission to Year 4
How do I apply for the Major in IMS?
If you are registered in Double Majors in Year 3 and want to register in the same Double Majors for Year 4, then simply submit an Intent to Register (ITR) during the ITR period in the month of March to continue in the same program for Year 4.
If you are registered in Year 3 BMSc but not in a Major in IMS, then submit an ITR and request a BMSc (Honours) degree and Double Majors (with one of the Majors being a Major in IMS).
What do I need to be eligible for admission?
You must have the prerequisites to take the 4000-level courses listed in the Double Majors you have requested to be eligible for the Majors in Year 4.
A Weighted Average is NOT required for admission to Double Majors in Year 4.
You do not need to carry a full load of 5.0 courses during the Fall/Winter of Year 3 to be eligibile for admission.
You can complete Double Majors in either an honours degree or a non-honours degree. To be eligible for a BMSc (Honours) degree with Double Majors, you must have an average of 70% on all modular courses listed in each Major with no mark less than 60% in any modular course, and a passing grade in all options in the previous year.
