Competency Based Medical Education (CBME)

In July 2017 the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada implemented Competency Based Medical Education or as commonly referred to Competence by Design (CBD) a new model to train surgical residents. Over the next few years medical schools across the country will be implementing this new approach to medical education. General Surgery Training Programs across the country are scheduled to launch CBD in July 2020.
