Earlier this spring, Dentistry’s former Acting Vice Dean & Director Dr. Bertha Garcia gave a presentation on equity, diversity, and inclusion to the American College of Dentists (ACD) Ontario Chapter.
The presentation, entitled Using an EDI lens in all we do and say, centred around racism and inappropriate system-based EDI practices. Specifically, the goal of the presentation was to start a conversation about recognizing and addressing racism in work and academic environments, and how to communicate across cultures to prevent micro-aggressions.
Dr. Garcia has previously presented on this topic to Schulich Medicine & Dentistry residents. The presentation is available online and can be downloaded here. (note: Western ID login required)
