Dentistry at Homecoming 2022

Western's 73rd Homecoming celebration was an exciting combination of more than 30 in-person and virtual events this year. Campus was a sea of purple as alumni and current students, faculty, and staff flooded back to celebrate. Schulich Dentistry Vice Dean and Director Dr. Carlos Quiñonez was on hand at various events over the busy weekend to welcome returning alumni, family, and friends.
Schulich Dentistry was very well represented at the annual Alumni of Distinction event on September 24, 2022. This year's honorees included Dr. Bertha Garcia who received the Honorary Alumni of Distinction Award, Dr. Jonathan Mahn (DDS'07) who received the Young Alumni Award for Dentistry, and Dr. Marilyn MacLoghlin (DDS'07) who received the Alumni of Distinction Award for Dentistry. Dr. Quiñonez also attended the Golden Alumni Brunch with guests from the classes of 1970, 71, 72, and 81. Four graduates from the School's original class of 1970 were there, including Alumni of Distinction Award recipient Dr. Marilyn MacLoghlin. Reflecting on the time spent with our most senior alumni, Dr. Quiñonez said he was "reminded of the quiet dignity of the dentist as a health care professional, as someone practising a healing craft and taking great pride in being of service to their patients and communities."
