New faculty and staff members have recently joined Schulich Dentistry. Welcome to Stephanie Edwards, Sherri Moore, Adheesha Ratnayake, Anna Suh and Dr. Kanan Dave.
Dr. Kanan Dave has joined Schulich Dentistry as an Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine. She is a board-certified Oral Medicine specialist with significant clinical experience in providing dental care to medically compromised patients, diagnosing complex pain cases and mucocutaneous lesions. Dr. Dave completed her Oral Medicine specialty training at the University of Toronto, during which she worked in various multidisciplinary clinics and hospitals including Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Dr. Dave completed her MSc at the University of Toronto and her research expertise is in oral pre-cancer and cancer, the novel methods of detection and the future of targeted therapy in pre-cancer. Prior to this, she obtained her dental degree and Master’s in Dental Surgery (Oral Medicine and Radiology) from Gujarat University. She attained postgraduate diplomas in Advanced Clinical Research (PGDACR) and Hospital Management (PGDHM), through which she explored her interests in clinical research and management. Her passion for teaching and integrating case-based learning will be beneficial to students learning to apply knowledge to daily clinical practice. She is eager to share her knowledge and join the Schulich Dentistry family.
Adheesha Ratnayake joined the clinical team as a Patient Services Coordinator on October 6, 2020. Reporting to the Manager of Clinic Operations, as well as working closely with the clinical administrative team and Dr. Rae Dorion, Assistant Director of Clinical Affairs, she provides leadership to the patient services portfolio and will work to improve policies, procedures, and protocols. She also supports the daily patient services needs of our various clinics. Adheesha brings years of experience in dentistry, as an Education Coordinator for Ivoclar Vivodent and as a Program Manager for The Institute for Dental Excellence, which will serve her well in this key role within the clinics.
Anna Suh joined Schulich Dentistry in October as the newest member of the Dental Assisting team. Anna comes to us from the Ontario Dental Association where she worked with the Remote Areas Program, providing much needed dental care to northern First Nations communities. Anna’s positive nature and enthusiasm for dentistry will be an excellent addition to the School.
Stephanie Edwards joins Schulich Dentistry as the newest member of the clinical team, in the role of Administrative Assistant. As a member of the reception team (reporting to Alexandra Fornelos), she will serve as the first point of contact for patients attending the dental clinics, provide support for student clinicians and support the daily administrative operations of the dental clinics.
