OICR Awards a CTIP Grant
Fred Dick, PhD was recently awarded a Cancer Therapeutics Innovation Pipeline (CTIP) grant from The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) for investigating 'dormant' cancer cells that elude the usual treatment options. Ovarian cancer cells can survive treatment by entering a period of dormancy and then spreading again once treatment has completed. Dr. Dick has uncovered a process that keeps dormant cells alive and will use OICR support to look for ways to disrupt this survival mechanism.
