Congratulations to the Schulich community on your recent achievements:

Dr. Ali Bateman, Medical Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program, has been awarded the St. Joseph’s Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) Award for demonstrating qualities of leadership and providing outstanding contributions to the success of initiatives aligning with the strategic directions of St. Joseph’s. 

The Cancer Research Society has announced its 2023 doctoral research award winners. Congratulations to Jaryd Christie and Megan Hong for being two out of the twenty-one recipients awarded this year.

Dr. John Denstedt received the Ramon Guiteras Award from the American Urological Association for pioneering work using endourologic approaches for stone disease and outstanding leadership as AUA Secretary during the worldwide pandemic.

Congratulations to Pingzhao Hu on his awarding of one of ten Arthritis Society Ignite Research grants. A groundbreaking program that fuels transformative research into cutting-edge solutions for arthritis. Dimitra Pouliopoulou and Sepideh Taghizadeh also received PhD Salary Awards. Brent Wakefield received a Postdoctoral Fellowship Award from the 2023 competition cycle.

Dr. Ryan Degen of Fowler Kennedy Sport & Medicine Clinic and Dr. Geoffrey Ng of Robarts Research Institute received the prestigious Carroll A. Laurin Award for their outstanding work on Muscle Functional Characteristics After Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome Surgery.

Dr. Sondos Zayed, resident alumna (Radiation Oncology), is being recognized for her leadership, vision and mentorship of others. She was featured in Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women listing. The annual list is compiled by the Women’s Executive Network.

Dr. Uday Deotare was awarded Patient Safety Champion-Physician award conferred by London Health Sciences Centre on 3 Nov 2023

Congratulations to the Schulich-affiliated winners of the 2023 Lawson Impact Award:

  • Leadership Award for Fellows & Students: Dr. John Tran
  • Joseph Gilbert Research Contribution of The Year Award: Dr. David Palma for "Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy versus standard of care palliative treatment in patients with oligometastatic cancers (SABR-COMET): a randomised, phase 2, open-label trial"
  • Innovation Award: Dr. Manuel Montero-Odasso
  • Scientist of The Year Award: Cheryl Forchuk, PhD

CHRI awards a Scientist and Trainee of the Year annually, sponsored by the Children’s Health Foundation. CHRI’s 2023 award recipients included Kendrick Lee (CHRI Deb Comuzzi Trainee of the Year).
