Announcement: Dr. Tisha Joy steps down as Associate Dean, Admissions
Dr. Tisha Joy, Associate Dean, Admissions, has informed me that due to personal reasons she will be stepping down from her role effective June 15, 2021.
Dr. Joy was appointed as Associate Dean in September 2017 and her tenure represented a renewal for the School’s admissions process for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program.
A champion of equity, diversity and inclusion, Dr. Joy made positive and lasting changes at the School, with initiatives such as the Medical Military Training Pathway and the ACCESS Pathway to enhance opportunities for individuals who face financial, medical and or socio-cultural barriers. The changes implemented under her leadership saw a more inclusive but rigorous approach to the admission process that resulted in a more diverse student body.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Joy for her tireless efforts on behalf of the School.
Dr. Gary Tithecott, Acting Vice Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education, will oversee Admissions for the Doctor of Medicine Program until the position has been filled. I’d like to thank Dr. Tithecott for his willingness to take on this portfolio. Dr. Gildo Santos will continue to lead Admissions for the undergraduate dental education.
