Taking holiday spirit to new heights
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine took its holiday spirit to new heights this year through their generous donation to Toy Mountain.
Cheryle Campbell, Education Coordinator, suggested the idea to the team in the Department, of buying toys for Toy Mountain, which supports Toys for Tots – a charity that collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.
“It’s fun to buy toys. We like the idea that the presents that we bought would bring some excitement and happiness to children less fortunate than ourselves,” explained Campbell.
The idea caught on within the department, and soon faculty, staff and students were all pitching in to donate.
“We are so thrilled, and hope the recipients of our gifts have a brighter holiday season,” said Cheryl Campbell.
On December 12, the department shipped off their mountain of toys which will be delivered by the Canadian Armed Forces to children around London.
In addition to their generous donation to Toys for Tots, the department further embraced the holiday season with their annual donation to the London Food Bank. Hundreds of canned goods and everyday supplies were generously donated by the department.
